The discipline related externship provides students with meaningful transitional experience in a chosen career field. The course is designed to allow students to engage in career exploration and practice advanced skills as part of their educational program of study. Students work with a faculty mentor to develop a plan of directed self-study and research work related to the students field of interest. (3 Credits, 180 contact hours on the job during the term with additional work/reporting required.)

Average of 12 per week (average of 8 soft skills hours: job shadowing, reviewing papers, training videos, orientations, lecture hours; average of 4 laboratory hours: bench work; total of 180 for term)
